About NECT
Empowering Our Young and Potential Nation Builders
The test will benchmark students’ cognitive abilities, subject knowledge, English communication skills, and coding capabilities to determine their strengths and learning needs. It will also measure their inclination towards job roles in the engineering discipline they have studied and workplace behavioral traits. The detailed analysis and recommendations will empower institutions to take appropriate action resulting in improvement.

Part A – Skills and Abilities
Cognitive Abilities
This section determines your proficiency in analytical ability, quantitative ability and reasoning. Measurement of these cognitive aspects helps predict performance on the job.
Subject Knowledge
This section determines the level of knowledge you have in the discipline of engineering you have studied to gauge job fitment for various roles in that area.
English Communication Skills
This section determines your proficiency level in English language across the parameters of listening, speaking, reading and writing which, when applied together, enables effective language-based communication.

National Engineering Competency Test, also known as NECT, will determine an individual’s strengths and needs and the programmes and services that would be most helpful for them for sustainable employment.
No. You have to talk to the relevant authorities in your college/institution and request them to register with L&T EduTech.
Relevant authorities (TPOs/Campus Coordinators) in your college/institution will pay for the assessments.
You will have to make the payment once. Test will have four sections: Cognitive Abilities, Subject Knowledge, English Communication Skills and Behavioral Personal Profile.
The tests will only benchmark students against industry standards. Doing well in the test will mean you have a greater chance in having a job, since you are employment ready. The score report from L&T will be a valuable achievement that you can show to your prospective employers.
